The pet detail page is where you'll find everything you need to know about a pet. This guide walks through each section so you can make an informed decision before applying to adopt.
The top of the page features a photo gallery. The primary photo is displayed prominently, with thumbnails of additional photos below. Click any thumbnail to view it full size, or use the arrow buttons to cycle through.
Good photos are your best window into a pet's personality. If a pet has only one or two photos, consider checking back later — organizations often update galleries as they take new pictures.
Below the gallery, the pet's name is displayed with key status information:
The description section contains the pet's bio written by the organization. This typically includes:

If the pet has been flagged by LBC's risk assessment system, a Risk Badge appears at the top of the attributes section. Possible risk levels:
The risk badge helps partner organizations prioritize resources. For adopters, it's informational — a high-risk pet may simply need a more experienced or committed home.
On the right side of the page (or at the bottom on mobile), you'll see a Similar Pets section. This displays 3-6 pets from nearby organizations with similar characteristics:
This is a great way to discover alternatives if the current pet isn't quite right, or to find a companion for your new family member.
If you're browsing from a non-member organization or using the cross-org discovery feature, this section shows similar pets available through partner shelters. These pets may be eligible for inter-organizational adoption or transport.
The call-to-action section contains the primary adoption application button:
If the pet's status is "Pending" or "Adopted," the Apply button is replaced with a notice indicating the current status and suggestions for similar available pets.
Click the heart icon (♡) on any pet detail page to add the pet to your favorites. When saved, the heart fills in (♥). You can view all your favorites at /favorites on the dashboard. Saved pets get special treatment:
