LBC sends notifications to keep you informed about your adoption applications, new matching pets, and platform activity. This guide explains how to configure your notification preferences so you get the right information without being overwhelmed.
Navigate to Settings > Notifications from your account menu. You'll see two sections: Email Notifications and In-App Notifications.
Email notifications are delivered to the email address associated with your account. You can configure each notification type independently.
Receive emails when:
Recommended: On (immediate). Application updates are time-sensitive and you don't want to miss them.
Receive emails when pets matching your preferences are added to the platform. LBC uses your saved pet preferences (species, breed, age, size, location) to identify relevant new listings.
Configurable options:
Recommended: Daily digest balances timeliness with inbox management.
For volunteers who participate in pet transport coordination:
Updates from LBC community channels you participate in:
Configurable per channel — you can mute specific channels while keeping notifications on for others.
Important updates from organizations you're associated with:
These are typically low-frequency but important to stay informed.
Notifications when new success stories are published:
In-app notifications appear in the Notification Center — accessible from the bell icon (🔔) in the top navigation bar.
The notification center shows:
| Type | Icon | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Application Update | 📋 | Status change on your adoption application |
| New Message | 💬 | Message from an organization or community member |
| New Pet Match | 🐾 | New pet matching your saved preferences |
| Transport Update | 🚛 | Change in transport coordination |
| Community Mention | @ | Someone mentioned you in a community channel |
| Success Story | ⭐ | A story was published or featured |
| System Notice | 🔔 | Important platform announcements |
For community channels, you can control notifications at a granular level:
This is especially useful for busy channels where you don't need to see every message.
Quiet hours prevent notifications from interrupting your rest or focused time:
During quiet hours, notifications are queued and delivered when quiet hours end. You'll still see them in the notification center when you check manually.
